Description | Ludvík Armbruster was born on 16 May 1928 in Prague, and was arrested and expelled from Czechoslovakia in April 1950 during the K action. From 1961 to 1990 he lived and worked in Japan, where between 1975 and 1983 he was the director of the Central Library of Sophia University, which he built as the first free-choice library in Asia. He died on 18 December 2021 (Professor Ludwig Armbruster 2021). This could be a brief description of one of the most important personalities of Czech librarianship, but one about whom very little is known in the professional community. |
