| Description | Although it is common to reflect on how much the canon shapes the production of selective publications and entire editions of the "best" of national comics production in terms of aesthetic qualities and how much is shaped by power-ideological motives, other factors come into play in the contemporary Czech (Slovak) comics scene and determine its form much more significantly. Apart from the financial means for acquiring expensive hardcover comic books, it is undoubtedly nostalgia. This paper will focus on two phenomena of contemporary Czechoslovak comics: the collected editions and reissues of magazine comics of the 1970s and 1980s (the Golden Books of Comics, produced by the Vybíral publishing house, etc.) and the fictional world of "Rychlé šípy", which this year has once again received an affordable paperback edition, where the classic stories are complemented by new, updated adventures of the boys' club. |
