| Description | The paper will aim to present what relations do exist (or, rather, do not exist?) between the two countries, which are probably more similar than it might seem at first sight. First of all, it will be answered to the following questions: What diplomatic and political relations were and currently are established between Slovakia and Lithuania? Is Lithuanian literature translated into Slovak? How are Lithuanians - their country, culture, history, and language - perceived in Slovakia? Finally, the main purpose of this contribution is to encourage a discussion about how mutual awareness can be increased and what actions we, as the experts in the field of Baltic studies, could take in order to contribute to the spread of information about Baltic countries and their cultures and languages. |
