Description | The impacts of the changing climate on forests, agricultural landscape, and urban areas are analysed. Drought is considered as the most serious of hazards associated with climate change in Central Europe. As particularly important the long-term trend appears, which is leading to more frequent and longer drier episodes. A drought monitoring and forecasting system (intersucho.cz) and the wild fire warning system (firerisk.cz) are introduced. The impacts of climate change on agricultural landscape are analysed in individual seasons and in terms of altitude. The related proposed adaptation measures for mitigating the negative and accelerating the positive effects are discussed, including the existing limitations of their implementation. As for the urban climate, the greatest danger for the population is the rising temperature and the associated thermal stress, causing especially summer discomfort in city centres. |
