| Description | The present text focuses on mathematics teaching and learning in the context of employing metacognitive activities. The text was created on the basis of an OP VVV project as a result of an analysis of the results of an action research by mathematics teachers who included problem-based tasks and metacognitive activities in their preparation. The text fi rst introduces the reader to the issue of action research and then to the construct of metacognition. The main focus of the work lies both in examples of teachers‘ portfolios, which representatively demonstrate the involvement of the relevant component of metacognition, and in examples of descriptions of action research carried out by teachers, including an analysis of the results. The text is intended not only for current mathematics teachers and mathematics teaching students, but also for all other current and future teachers looking for possible ways to objectify their assessment through action research and inspiration for their teaching, since the construct of metacognition is not completely tied to the relevant area (subject) and a number of metacognitive activities presented in this publication can be used in other areas (subjects) with minimal or even no modifi cation in the task assignment. |
