Description | In this contribution, we will discuss the role of special educational needs teachers in the contemporary school environment in the Czech Republic from their perspective. We will present selected findings of the first phase of our qualitative research based on qualitative interviews with participants. There were approached special education teachers with diverse specializations as research participants – professionals in the field of speech therapy, visual impairment, physical or intellectual disability, behavioural and emotional difficulties/disorders, hearing impairment, and learning disabilities. These were special educational needs teachers working in the field, i.e., in schools (elementary schools, special schools) and school facilities (counselling care centres, residential, educational facilities, etc.). They worked with children with various special needs related to various disabilities or disadvantages. We will offer partial insight into the profession and the professional experience of special educational needs teachers and an opportunity to reflect on their professional position, activities, and experience. |
