Description | The aim of this experimental study was to explore in vitro release behavior of thymol self-emulsifying biopolymeric particles. Non-linear regression analysis was used to elucidate the kinetics and mechanism of thymol release from different types of biopolymeric particles. The hardening medium used was found to affect the drug release process significantly. Sample S1 (hardening solutions CaCl2) showed release by first-order kinetics and mechanism corresponding to anomalous transport. Sample S2 (hardening solutions CaCl2:ZnCl2) exhibited release by zero-order kinetics and swelling-controlled release mechanism. Sample 3 (hardening solutions ZnCl2) is a superposition of multiple states in terms of release kinetics and mechanism corresponding with Super Case II transport. |
