Description | Obscured for nearly two centuries by imperialist (Russian) and Orientalist (Europe & the U.S.) perspectives, the visual culture of the South Caucasus in the 7th century shows how the region was actively participating in cultural and theological debates proper to the entire Mediterranean. Thus not only was it not a marginal culture, but on the contrary it was one of the crossroads of the Eurasian world. |
