Description | This short contribution deals with the verbal argument that has been going on between the two most powerful Croatian politicians – the president Zoran Milanović and premier Andrej Plenković. The text follows their rhetoric means and styles and poses a question what the impact on society is and what it does to a political culture in Croatia. The analysis is based on critical discourse and on the role of political elite in society. Whilst we can follow an interesting, and sometimes creative, rhetorical argument that is referred to by metaphors, the impact on the society can be crucial as it demean the quality of political culture, suppress the required exchange of the real arguments, as it focuses mainly on attacks on a personal level. Their row chokes Croatian policy, force voters to choose between the two of them – enforcing a further division of society. |
