Description The paper deals with the law of contract in the Legal Book of Žilina. It is a medieval source from the second half of the 14th century to the 16th century. The normative part regulates individual types of debentures used in the city, the part with court records then documents the specific method of implementation of obligations and their number within other legal acts. The records served as evidence in the event of property disputes. Their main function was the legal security of the concerned parties. The provisions of the normative part are of a case-by-case nature, they are not formulated in general, but address specific situations that may have arisen. The most common is the modification of the purchase and sale contract, less often the donation or rent. Great attention is paid to securing liabilities, both personal and mainly property liability or deposit.
