| Description | A chapter about politics of awards, imprinted to the Karlovy Vary Film Festival by the multiple chairman of its juries professor A. M. Brousil. The chapter attempted to find out, how AMB used to achieve compliance of results with cultural-political assignment. Composition of the juries was important: personalities from so called people’s democracies or socialist countries prevailed here, left-wing critics from the West countries or foreign graduates of FAMU often participated. The list of awards of IFF Karlovy Vary used to be sophisticated message, which should to scale artistic and social values accurately after the ideological key. The films awarded by Grand prix and main awards should be the best ones in partial artistic disciplines as well; individual awards appreciated the other performances. |
