Description Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, an increasing number of educational offerings have been provided worldwide through MS Teams, Google Hangouts, and Zoom. While initially, many teachers were concerned about the transferability of didactic concepts, after more than 1.5 years, criticism of the data protection compliance of numerous video conferencing system providers has accumulated. On the other hand, a proprietary server infrastructure based on the open-source program Jitsi Meet can be operated in compliance with data protection regulations. In this article, Konstantin Kountouroyanis shares his experiences and provides tips on what to consider when setting up your own Jitsi server.
