Description Impulsivity constitutes one of the main symptoms of ADHD and also manifests in many other mental disorders. Impulsivity is a multidimensional construct that can be measured by a wide range of different instruments. This chapter describes various tools used to measure impulsivity in both clinical and research contexts and discusses their usability, advantages, disadvantages, and psychometric properties. Results for impulsivity in ADHD as measured by the reported instruments are described. Most widely used self-reported questionnaires, rating scales, and clinical interviews are presented in detail, focusing on their individual differences and different theoretical backgrounds. A complex description of behavioral tests of impulsivity such as response inhibition tests and reward processing tasks are reviewed. Finally, neurophysiological measures based on the autonomous nervous system or transcranial magnetic stimulation are described as an innovative way of measuring impulsivity.
