Description | In 2023, the Czech legislator adopted Act No. 276/2023 Coll., which aimed to repeal outdated legislation. The law focused on two types of legal acts: obsolete regulations that remained formally valid and acts that were previously repealed but in a way that raised doubts about whether the repeal occurred. While the legislative step was analysed in detail, some shortcomings were noted. For instance, some obsolete provisions were omitted. Retained regulations and bills from periods of non-freedom still form part of the Czech legal system. The text also compared approaches to similar problems in other selected countries to find inspiration for more effective identification and repeal of obsolete legislation. The goal was to contribute to greater legal certainty and efficiency in the Czech legal system. |
