Description | Dry coating is currently an acceptable alternative, which is cheaper and easier compared to conventional liquid dispersant coating. Preferably, a method is offered in which the membrane is formed not by evaporation of the liquid but by melting the film coating compound. This binary mixture in the solid state is first coated on the cores, whereas the mixture only adheres to their surface. A monodisperse film is then formed at elevated temperatures to allow controlled release of the substance contained in the core. Preferably, it is possible to use temperatures at which the glass transition of the used film coating compound. Fifteen coating mixtures were prepared. They consisted of a substance with low melting point from the wax group (Bonuwax®, Biogrund, Germany) and a polymer, providing prolonged or delayed release of model substances (Eudragit® L, S, RL, RS, Evonik Industries, Germany or EthocelTM, Colorcon, USA) in three ratios (1:1, 1:3 and 3:1). The coating mixtures were evaluated in terms of common physical characteristics. They were monitored for their size and morphology. Mixtures with optimal properties will be used for coating cores with already verified composition (pellets or minitablets). In addition to the normal physical properties, release kinetics will be monitored by dissolution testing. |
