Description | Southeastern Moravia stands out for its folklore traditions that residents of this region have actively practiced and developed for generations. Participation in folklore activities is often associated with psychological phenomena such as social interactions, identity, solidarity, engagement, and community building. These phenomena demonstrably contribute to improving personal well-being. Despite extensive research on well-being in psychology, the potential relationship between involvement in folklore and personal well-being has been overlooked in research. The aim of this study was to map aspects of participation in folklore activities with an emphasis on individuals' subjective experiences and to explore the potential influence of folklore on well-being. The survey was conducted among folklorists from Southeastern Moravia through qualitative interviews. Thematic analysis helped identify key themes related to the subjective experiences of aspects of folklore in the studied population. The collected data will be used for designing a planned quantitative research aimed at evaluating the relationship between practicing folklore and psychological well-being measured by standardized psychological methods. In the era of urbanization and globalization, which face numerous social challenges, exploring the connections between traditional customs and modern concepts of human happiness and mental well-being is a valuable source of insights that have the potential to deepen the development of a resilient society. |
