Description | The underground, especially the music scene is a relatively closed community connected mainly with the names of Ivan Martin Jirous, Egon Bondy and the band The Plastic People of the Universe, to which a whole range of activities of other individuals and groups scattered all over the country are connected. The Hanspaul movement, which dates its beginnings to 1966, peaked in the late 1970s and gradually declined in the mid-1980s, has not yet been thought of in connection with the underground. The aim of these reflections was to point out the connections, but also the differences, between the two communities and thus point out the problematic nature of isolating the underground movement from the much wider environment of other unofficial and non-totalitarian state-controlled activities. |
