Description | Young Nicolaus studied at universities in Krakow, Bologna and Padua and subsequently spent a lifetime as a catholic canon in the Cathedral of Frombork in Warmia. Sometime before 1510 Copernicus wrote Commentariolus, a theoretical description of the heliocentric system with planets orbiting a central Sun. His crucial work De revolutionibus orbium coelestium with astronomical and mathematical interpretation of a heliocentric model of Solar System, was completed at the end of his life. His models of planetary motions were inspired by Arabic sources. This article deals with two interesting and important topics - the triple motion of the Earth and a models of the motion of Mercury. |
