| Description | Eurasianism, as one of the most prominent ideological movements of the Russian interwar emigration, has undergone a fundamental transformation in the last hundred years and, especially since the first half of the 1990s, has regularly resonated in the broader context of Russian intellectual thought. Within academic research over the past 30 years, scholarly attention has focused on two main areas: research on interwar Eurasianism of the 1920s and 1930s and research on neo-Eurasianism of the 1990s. Although the research of both groups has produced a number of new findings, the relatively long period between 1945 and 1991, when the official activity of interwar Eurasianists had disappeared, has remained outside the academic interest. Still, some of the movement's leading figures have remained active and continued to promote and re-contextualize its sub-concepts. The present paper aims to present research on archival materials related to geographer P. N. Savitsky and historian G. V. Vernadsky (two representatives of the interwar Eurasian movement) and their contact with ethnologist and historian L. N. Gumilev and other Soviet intellectuals during the transitional period of the Cold War. |
