| Description | The lecture was organized by the Museum of Petroleum Mining and Geology and Moravian Oil Mines Hodonín in the framework of the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the start of mining in Gbely (Slovakia). It was about the surface oil and gas seeps, the occurrence of asphalt, knowledge about them and their practical use in antiquity from the Sumerian to Roman antiquity. It also dealt with which sites known in antiquity are now important sites for the extraction of natural hydrocarbons. |
