Description The policy paper represents one of the outputs of the project called "Identification and Application of Strategic Communication Tools in the Implementation of the Czech Foreign Policy Concept, which is being implemented in 2022-2024 (applied research project). The first part of the policy paper focuses on the reflection of key security issues, including the reflection of Czech membership in NATO and security-related topics in the European, Euro-Atlantic and wider international environment, in the Czech public opinion. This part works with 2 types of data: Quantitative data available from public opinion surveys conducted by both Czech agencies such as CVVM, STEM and others, and focused on the issue of respondents' satisfaction with the Czech membership in NATO, trust in NATO as an international organization, and other security-related topics (with an emphasis on the perception of security threats by individual states and actors). In addition to these, the first part also elaborates relevant Eurobarometer data related to the issue of European security and its perception. Furthermore, the analysis works with qualitative data obtained on the basis of focus groups conducted in autumn 2022 in Jihlava, Olomouc and Ústí nad Labem. On the basis of these quantitative and qualitative data, the second part of the policy paper identifies the key problematic points related to the topic of security and its perception by the Czech public and then analyses the new Security Strategy of the Czech Republic of 2023 and its priorities. The analysis identifies the key points that could be problematic (with regard to the results of available public opinion surveys and qualitative data from focus groups) in relation to the public and public perception of these topics. The last part of the policy paper contains proposals for a communication strategy for communicating these identified specific topics related to the current security situation and the current Security Strategy of the Czech Republic.
