| Description | The article deals with the issue of commercialization of the process of gamete donation in the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries with the help of analysis and comparison of the relevant legislation. It shows that the absence of clear rules at the European level leads to the fact that national legislators can make the generally formulated requirements for preserving altruism and solidarity of donation more specific. However, in the cases at hand, this leads to the setting of vague rules, which are then shaped by the reproductive clinics themselves through the provision of lump sums of money, which, although formally described as compensation for the costs and inconveniences associated with donation, due to their amount and the way they are promoted, indicate that they are more likely to be rewards of a market as well as incentive nature. |
