| Description | Quality is one of the basic required properties of medicines, and its control, or continuous supervision of the quality of medicines and processes that influence this attribute, is one of the traditional professional activities of pharmacists. However, over time, depending on the development of science and education, as well as the organization of healthcare provision and economic possibilities, methods, approaches, and the level of organization of pharmaceutical control changed. In the early modern era, pharmacopoeias, dispensaries, and similar obligatory collections of professional standards became the basic standards in this area. The aim of the contribution is to present the development of pharmacopoeial requirements for the quality of medicines in the Central European region through a detailed description of selected raw materials, preparations, and methods of ensuring their quality. |
