Description The Great War left its mark on the lands of today‘s Poland. The armies that fought in the years 1914–1915 in the Beskid Niski and Bieszczady mountains left behind scars which, as a result of tragic events and depopulation after the Second World War, were erased in the area. Thanks to military reports, eyewitness accounts and maps, it is possible to find battlefields, cemeteries and other remnants of military operations. One of the places where the battles took place and which became the final resting place of the soldiers is Krąglica – a mountain within the boundaries of the village of Maniów in the Komańcza commune, studied by a team from the Institute of Archeology at the Jagiellonian University as part of the „Forgotten Cemeteries of Maniow” project. The excavations, which began in 2022, made it possible to determine what happened to the soldiers who fought for this hill in late March and early April 1915. Thanks to the research, it was possible to trace the course of the fighting and find the graves of the soldiers defending the hill. The second place where fights also took place at the turn of 1914/1915 is Kamień nad Jaśliska, where the graves of soldiers fighting there and places of fighting were also found. The text presents the preliminary results of our research, as well as the methodological solutions used during the field work.
