Description | The paper presented the findings of a review of research study comprising 35 publications from 2010 - 2023, which aimed to compare the terms pluricultural competence (including plurilingual competence and mediation) with the term intercultural communicative competence (ICC). Although there is no terminological consensus in the literature, according to Runnels (2021) and other authors, the CEFR CV (2020) suggests that pluricultural competence (PCC) is a term superior to ICC, rather than the other way around. The separation of the two approaches in research and teaching brings a number of research topics, some of which have a tradition in research on ICC development in the context of foreign teaching, whose narrowing down to the topic of mediation (and PCC) would be desirable and worth opening up (not only) in the context of Czech research. |
