Description On an aerial photograph from yr 2015 there is a conspicuous vegetation sign of an extinct complex of brick buildings at river Svitava floodplain near Spešov, southern Moravia. The situation was verified in several places by micro probing, which revealed that at a depth of 45 to 60 cm there is a massive, very compact masonry built of rock used for high-quality mortar. No material (pottery, coins) allowing dating was recovered. Possibility it was a big water-mill was excluded by the use of geosciences. By the analysis of ground water table changes it is probable that no basement was built. Comparison with the floor plans of known aristocratic mansions from Bohemia and Moravia suggests that it may be an unbuilt aristocratic residence from the second half of the 15th century. In this context, it seems possible that the owner of Spešov, Jan of Šelenberk, began to build his new residence here before the year 1469. However, since moved to Prague after long war in 1479 to be the highest chancellor of the king, he sold all his property in Moravia in 1482, he did not complete his residence. It is an exceptionally well-preserved overall plan of the residence with a courtyard, which deserves monument protection and presentation to the public.
