Description | Introduction. Metabolic surgery is performer in Trebic Hospital since 2020. With a operative stop durin covid-19 pandemics the department achieved the bariatric performance status in 2023. The lecture presents the complex approach to the obesity patients with the presentation of the surgery results with focus on teh weight loss and commorbidities. Material and methods: All patients who underwent bariatric surgery in the period between 2020 and march 2024 were included in the study. Separately they were evaluated in groups after sleeve gastrectomy, after gastric bypass with one or two anstomoses. BMI and medications were evaluated with at least one year after the prcedures. Results: Since 2020 there were 127 patients with bariatric procedures, 48 after one anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB), 40 sleeve gastrektomies (LSGE), 10 Roux-Y gastric bypasses (RYGB) and 29 revisional procedures. In the whole group there was one anastomotic leak after OAGB, 4x staple line bleeding after LSGE and 3 port side hernias. There were 5 rehospitalisations due to marginal ulcer after the OAGB. Average BMI drop was 11,33 after LSGE, 12,32 after OAGB and 11,05 after RYGB. Complete remission or medication reduction of T2DM after OAGB was 66%, 60% after LSGE and 100% afrter RYGB. Hypertensis remission or medication reduction was 71% after LSGE, 79% after OAGB and 100% after RYGB. Conclusion: Metabolic and vbariatric surgery is safe with very good results on obesity and its realted commorbidities. |
