| Description | The issue of gene manipulation in humans is very closely linked to eugenics of the 20th century, while modern methods of manipulating the human genome are very often referred to as “eugenic” and, on that basis, evaluated as morally unacceptable. The article aims to present the problem of the tendentious use of definitions of the term eugenics in connection with modern gene technologies and comes to the opinion that the targeted use of a negative definition of eugenics, intentionally evoking negative connotations, can be counterproductive in some cases related to gene technologies and should therefore not be used. |
