Description | Hydride atomizers are a valuable tool in analytical chemistry for the ultra-trace determination of elements. Their role is to decompose volatile analyte hydrides to free atoms, which can be detected by atomic absorption or fluorescence spectroscopy. Our work focuses on the diagnostics of one particular type of hydride atomizer based on volume dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) used for the decomposition of tin hydride (stannane). Three laser-aided methods are used to gain information about the atomizer’s behavior. On the basis of their results, we suggest the reason why two examined power supply regimes lead to different atomization efficiencies. |
