Description | The present paper will address the depiction of three monumental figures of popular music of the latter part of the 20th century, namely Elvis Presley, Elton John and Freddie Mercury, and their representations in three recent biopics: Elvis (2022), Rocketman (2019) and Bohemian Rhapsody (2018). The focus will be on how the status of a music star is culturally construed in the real-life environment and how it is, subsequently, captured and represented in the aforementioned films, which, too, have their own independent cultural aspirations. |
