Description | Active employment policy in the Czech Republic is evaluated from a wide range of perspectives. This contribution offers a perspective that is focused on the differences between men and women, including differences in their care responsibilities, attending re-training courses in the South Moravian Region. Concerning the purpose for which data were collected (implementation monitoring), it was necessary to use primary two indicators: the extent of the course and the price of the course. A gender-sensitive analysis of re-training courses participants indicates differences that may disadvantage women in the labour market. In particular, women in the South Moravian Region are entering re-training courses after a more extended period of unemployment than men; and even if their re-training course on average lasts longer, it has significantly lower financial funding per hour than in the case of men. These results suggest that the program of re-training courses is not implemented in a way that would guarantee equal treatment to all applicants. |
