Description | The contribution falling into the field of practical didactics of Physics for secondary school and bachelor university studies, presents a possible didactic approach to the interpretation of momenta of vector quantities (e.g. torgue or angular momentum, their definition and application in the laws of physics). At first glance, the problem is trivial, because the mathematical definition requires "only" knowledge of the concept of a cross product. However, this mathematical concept is not too suitable for secondary schools, and unfortunately , even at the beginning of university studies (taking into account the current mathematical knowledge of secondary school graduates). In the paper, after the evaluation of the most common approaches, we focus on the physically and mathematically correct interpretation of the terms "torgue with respect to a point" and „torgue with respect to an axis“. ". We also deal with the term "the arm of a force", only seemingly unproblematic. (The concept of the angular momentum is then completely analogous.) |
