Description The paper deals with the phenomenological interpretation of the relationship between being, living and home developed by M. Heidegger, and in continuity also by J. Patočka. Heidegger's conception of dwelling as a specifically human mode of existence was elaborated in his lecture on the philosophy of architecture Building Dwelling Thinking and culminated in the work Poetically Dwelling Man. Here, home is understood as a space of a specific quality that relates not only to place, but also to the spiritual and identifying dimensions of our mind and language. With the concept of fourfold, Heidegger covers his theory of the relationship between the world of human being, inhabited by things in the limited hrizon of human life on the one hand, and the world itself in the continuity of the past and future with regard to eternity. Similarly, following E. Husserl, J. Patočka develops the concept of the natural world, which tries to be a reflected and authentically aware stay. Paths and roads are a human phenomenon that takes many forms in the landscape. The paper will try to interpret some selected signs related to the paths in the context of phenomenological philosophy and answer the question of what paths lead to "poetic dwelling" and what are the implications for architecture and urban planning.
