Description | The contribution asks in what ways it is possible to decolonize our imagination about life in the majority world, and what barriers such efforts run into. Methodologically, it is based on Said's and Gregory's concept of imaginative geographies. It works with imagination of the majority world, created in secondary school teaching of regional geography and obtained through content analysis of geography textbooks and semi-structured interviews with secondary school teachers. The results show the entrenchment of modernist stereotypes and apolitical ideas of development as a linear trajectory, but at the same time efforts to overcome them. |
