Description | The article delves into the litigative, but also primarily discursive, confrontation of conservative Christian judicial activists, religious leaders, and Republican politicians with the LGBTQ+ community in the United States, which is currently being conducted through advocacy for religious liberty. The text attempts to demonstrate a movement away from protecting individual religious rights to seeking to create legitimacy for claims to regulate societal behavior in the area of sexuality and gender identities. Finally, the role of the dominant conceptualization of freedom as the main agent of the current battle on the grounds of legal institutions is presented and theorized. |
