Description | Beer is traditionally perceived as an inseparable part of Czech and Moravian culture. But where are the origins of the immense popularity of this drink? And how has beer culture changed as a result of the stimuli of an evolving society? These and many other questions will be answered in a series of lectures by people who have been working on this phenomenon as part of their university research. The production and consumption of beer has long been one of the traditional activities of society in Central Europe. Over time, this drink has gained a considerable popularity that has made it almost a status symbol in some parts of Europe. As travel developed, people began to discover that different regions brewed specific beers that tasted different from their own. This lecture will trace the development of beer culture and diversity from the Middle Ages to the present, with an emphasis on the second half of the 20th century. |
