Description | This paper focuses on the analysis of large-scale traffic monitoring systems in the Czech Republic. The introductory section provides a general overview of their operation and use. The main part of the paper describes the original and current traffic monitoring systems in the Czech Republic: Automatizovaná kontrola vozidel (AKV) and Centrální automatizoaná kontrola vozidel (CAKV), together with their analysis. It highlights the lack of an adequate legal basis, the extensive nature of data recording, access to data and the duration of data retention in the light of rulings by the European Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court. The systems do not meet the set out legal requirements. |
