Description Pollarding is a forest management technique that allows for the combination of wood harvesting and grazing by animals. Shoots are cut above the reach of the animals to produce firewood and leaf fodder. Pollarding has existed at least since the Middle Ages. After the 19th century, it was gradually abandoned but is nowadays being revived as part of the protection of our natural and cultural heritage.
