Description This contribution aims to present the personality of Nikolai Ryzhkov as depicted in memoirs of his daughter Ariadna Ryzhkova-Novikova. The memoirs were written throughout several years, recording Ryzhkov’s life at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The records describe his childhood, youth, beginnings of his priesthood as well as his arrest and the following trial in which he was charged with organizing operations against the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and spreading Pan-Slavic propaganda among Czechs. The study examines how Ryzkov’s personality, life experience and faith are depicted in the memoirs and compiles a comprehensive picture of his activities, relation to Orthodoxy, his homeland and the Czechs.
