| Description | Before the drug reaches the patient, its effectiveness and safety must be verified. As part of clinical studies, we find out whether the therapeutic benefit exceeds possible side effects. Statistics play an irreplaceable role in planning and evaluating the effectiveness and safety of medicines. An understanding of basic statistical principles and their use in clinical research is an advantage for anyone interested in the development of new drugs and procedures. The goal of this Science Talk is to show that statistics in clinical research is not just for mathematicians and that the basic principles are understandable to everyone. The statistical outputs are serious and decide the use/non-use of a new drug in practice, but the path to them is fun and playful. |
