Description Phraseological units are generally perceived as expressive linguistic means that enrich the communications in which they are found. The natural environment for phraseological units is ordinary speech and also dialects, i.e. substandard forms of the national language. In our work, we focus on how changes occur in the structure of phraseological units precisely when they are used in substandard, i.e. ordinary and speaker-uncontrolled communication. We will describe the changes recorded in the phonological, morphological, syntactic and lexical (component) plan. We will mainly use corpus data. The aim is to look at Czech and Croatian phraseology in a confrontational way. In the theoretical part, we will mainly deal with the definition of the variant of phraseological units.
