Description | One of the outputs of the AIcope project was to improve the lives of patients with cancer, specifically women with breast cancer. To achieve this, we developed a web application for patients that provides them with important information about their health. An important hypothesis in electronic healthcare is that higher levels of awareness lead to better treatment outcomes and improved quality of life for people with long-term illnesses. Through the application, we aim to improve the availability of quality information at the right time, on which patients can base the best healthcare decisions. To the extent possible, we integrated into the hospital information system of the Masaryk Oncology Institute and enabled patients to access their health reports. We developed systems for extracting essential information from unstructured medical text (medications, procedure codes, report types) that allow for interface personalization. We created a unified knowledge database that contains educational information about cancer, databases of medications and their side effects, descriptions of diagnoses, and other trusted information sources. On top of this knowledge base, we tested the RAG method for factually accurate question-answering interfaces. We study the information behavior of patients, their life situations, and the course of their treatment. |
