| Description | The monograph provides readers with a comprehensive overview of jurists’ congresses held in the Czech lands and Slovakia during the first half of the 20th century. These congresses had long remained an overlooked phenomenon, despite serving in their time as an important platform for discussions among legal professionals on contemporary issues in legal science and practice. Their significance was only recently reaffirmed with the revival of the Czech Lawyers’ Congress in 2022, which took place more than 70 years after the last jurists’ congress. The author focuses on a detailed analysis of the organization and proceedings of historical jurists’ congresses, drawing on previously unexplored archival sources and period legal literature. The book places the tradition of these congresses within the broader context of state and legal development in the region, highlighting how they contributed to shaping unified legal opinions across different branches of the profession and fostering a broader legal community.Furthermore, the monograph also explores the key figures who played a significant role in organizing these congresses. The scholarly text is enriched with unique period photographs and archival materials throughout the book. |
