Description | Cps6 mutant of Schizosaccharomyces pombe that is defective in cytokinesis was examined by electron microscopy to detect wall ultrastructure, and by fluorescent microscopy to identify cytoskeleton. The results showed less compact and more spongy cell wall and septum.Actin cytoskeleton of patches, cables and rings was rich as well as cytoplasmic microtubules. Mutation in the gene cps6 may nterfere with the termination of synthesis of septum and lateral wall as the consequence of missing physiological arrest of transition between G2 phase and the next cell cycle. |
