| Description | Names of plant taxa used in the Central European version of the database software Turboveg are discussed. A short overview of botanical nomenclature used in Czech floras is given, and the rapid switchover from quite a conservative attitude to unnecessary nomenclatural novelties in the floras from the late eighties is believed to be one of the reasons for confusion and discontent among users in conservation, forestry, and agriculture. The plant names used in the database of the Central European flora, which is incorporated in the Turboveg database, represent a moderate attitude and will provide a solid base for research and data exchange. |
