Description In the course of our research on transition metal complexes with anticancer activity,1 a series of mononuclear Cu(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes with selected 6-benzylaminopurine derivatives, namely 6-(2-hydroxybenzylamino)purine 2OHBAP, 6-(3-fluorobenzylamino)purine 3FBAP, 2-(3-hydroxypropylamino)-6-benzylamino-9-isopropylpurine BOH and 2-(2-hydroxyethylamino)-6-benzylamino-9-metylpurine OLO, has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, electronic, infrared and mass (FAB+, ESI+) spectral data, magnetic susceptibility and molar conductivity data. On the basis of data resulting mainly from a single crystal X-ray analysis, a composition of the prepared complexes is following: [CuCl3(2OHBAP+)2]Cl.2H2O, [CuCl3(3FBAP+)2]Cl.H2O, [PdCl3(BOH+)].H2O, [PdCl3(OLO+)].H2O, [PtCl3(BOH+)].H2O, [PtCl3(OLO+)].H2O. Cytotoxic activity of the complexes as well as the starting compounds was determined by a calcein AM assay on various human tumor cell lines.
