Description | Diaminomaleodinitrile was used in a three component one-pot synthesis as a multi-functional reagent. A mixture containing diaminomaleo-dinitrile, benzoyl isothiocyanate (prepared by the reaction of benzoyl chloride with potassium or ammonium thiocyanate in the acetone solution) and acetone (as solvent in excess) reacted at room temperature concurrently. Both products, 2-benzoylimino-5,5-dimethyl-2,5-dihydropyrimido[5,4-d] [1,3]thiazole-7-carboxamide and 9-benzoyl-2,2-dimethyl-8-thioxo-5,7,8,9-tetrahydro-2H-purine-6-carboxamide, were isolated in ratio of ca 2 : 3, total yield > 80 %. The reaction pathway of this domino-process is explained. |
