Description This paper described an empirical study of psychosocial aspects on-line communication on the internet. Participants included 68 university students (age 18-30) who were suitable for one criteria - regular use of on-line communication on chats. Differences between general characteristics on-line communication (amount of using on-line communication, place of connection on internet, number of servers for on-line communication) and specific phenomena of this communication (social anonymity, friendship, motivation for on-line communication use) were investigated. Chat is a place for relaxation, rest and fun. It seems also as an important source of a new friendships and place to keep existing friendships. Friendship in virtual reality is more fictional and less real that friendship in real world. On-line communication is influenced by social anonymity.
