Description | Chromosome numbers were counted on Eleocharis subser. Eleocharis samples of 56 populations from Hungary, Austria, Rumania and Bulgaria. The following taxa and chromosome numbers were detected: E. mamillata subsp. austriaca 2n = 16 (Bulgaria: Rodopi Mts., Široka Poljana Lake), E. palustris subsp. palustris 2n = 16 (Austria: Großhöniggraben; Hungary: Pér, Tiszafűred, Sóskás, Monostorapáti; Rumania: Arpaşu de Jos, Mindra, Martineşti, Cefa, Arad, Şiştarovat, Harmăn, Trei Sate, Cheia, Sălard; Bulgaria: Cherkaski, Glavatsi, Kazičene, Marikostinovo, Hursovo, Satovča, Sadovo, Popovica, Biala Reka, Mineralni Bani, Čerepovo, Devnya, Durankulak, Dobrič, Sreburna, Nova Černa), E. uniglumis subsp. uniglumis 2n = 46 (Austria: Großhöniggraben; Hungary: Farmos, Félhalom, Tiszacsege, Pűspőkladány, Fűlőpháza, Szabadzállás, Balatoncsehi, Látrány, Gyulafirátót; Rumania: Ocna Sibiului, Ajud, Osorhei, Izvoarele, Olteni, Lueta, Lupşa; Bulgaria: Kazičene, Solnčev Briag, Durankulak); E. uniglumis subsp. sterneri 2n = 76, 78 (Hungary: Tatabánya); E. uniglumis subsp. uniglumis x subsp. sterneri 2n = 64 (Austria: Bad Vöslau). The hypothesis of a vicarious distribution of E. uniglumis subspecies (subsp. sterneri in the Pannonian and Illyrian regions with an exclave on Öland and Gotland and the type subspecies in other European regions) was not verified. |
