Description The article present the results of a research project focused on the presentation of Roma in Czech newspapers. We have analysed 392 articles printed in 9 nation-wide newspapers: Mladá fronta Dnes, Blesk, Právo, Zemské noviny, Moravské Slovo, Lidové noviny, Hospodářské novi-ny, Špígl and Haló noviny issued from October 2000 the 1st to March 31st, 2001. Most of the articles were printed on the pages of Mladá frona Dnes. Articles were categorised according to context into nine groups: discrimination, criminality, politics, culture, history, unemployment, housing and schooling. Discrimination and Criminality were the most common categories. Based on theory of news value four categories were identified with highest frequency: unambiguity, reference to person, negativity and continuity. Articles about the Roma population are written from the majority point of view.
